Email marketing is the act of sending a commercial message, typically to a group of people, using email. In its broadest sense, every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing.
These are the different methods for collecting emails. The process for this generally follows the following steps:
- Drive users to the website or a landing page.
- Present users with a reason to give you their email address. This can be:
- Premium content such as a white paper
- A request to join a list
- A link to something that you send via email
- Access to some piece of content that is traded for with an email address.
- Users receive a set of pre-built emails that get them introduced into the system. These emails provide a high level of value to make the user 'happy' about receiving emails from the business.
- Nurture the email list by sending out regular emails with content related to what the users want to read about.
- Based on the different systems being implemented (content marketing, email marketing, social media advertising, PPC, etc) set up different automations to nurture leads and get users ‘into’ your lead funnel.
- Set up weekly RSS-based email campaign to send users new articles being written
- For items above, setup will include:
- Set up email marketing account (ie. MailChimp, ConvertKit, etc.)
- Build automations for when user signs up for key areas or asks for certain kinds of information
- Create emails for those automations and CRM addition items
- Set up ongoing promotional emails - multiple times per week, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, quarterly, etc
